Community rules
Last updated: 29 September 2026
OnSpecial works because people post what's real and check what's still on. These rules keep it that way, and they apply to everyone, venue owners included.
Post what's real
- Only post specials, prices and events you've seen, heard from the venue, or can point to. Include the price, the days and the times.
- One listing per offer. Don't repost something to bump it.
- Log prices from the menu or your receipt, and pick the item from the list rather than inventing a new one.
Confirm only what you know
- A confirm means "I was just there, and it's still on." Don't confirm from memory, and don't confirm to earn points.
- If a deal is gone or wrong, tap "Not right?" and say what changed instead.
- Changing a listing's price, times, days or offer resets its confirms, because old confirms can't vouch for new details.
Be who you are
- One account per person. No sock puppets, vote stuffing or trading confirms.
- Businesses: claim your venue to post as the venue, and your posts say "Updated by the venue". Don't promote your own venue from a personal account without saying so, and don't flag a competitor's listings.
Best Of is for quality, confirms are for accuracy
- There are no likes or stars on offers. Vote for your favourites in Best Of.
- A venue's own team can nominate it in Best Of, but can't vote for it: the votes are the city's.
- Don't use confirms or flags to reward or punish a venue.
- Nominate real places that fit the question.
Be decent
- No harassment, hate, threats or sexual content.
- No personal information about anyone: phone numbers, addresses, or photos of staff or other customers without their consent.
- Keep tips and comments about the place: the food, the drinks, the deal, the room.
- No spam, ads or affiliate links.
What we promise in return
- No fake counts. Every number is real people.
- Featured is always labeled.
- Claimed venues still decay. A venue's own listings age more slowly, and it can confirm them each week, but its confirm never counts as a person's.
- No fake urgency. Countdowns only for real deadlines.
- You control notifications, one type at a time. No "we miss you", no streak guilt.
- The rules are visible. See how OnSpecial works.
When rules are broken
- Anyone can report a listing, tip or Best Of entry, and moderators review every report.
- We may remove content, reverse points earned by breaking the rules, or suspend accounts. Serious or repeated violations mean a ban.
